I always thought I wasn’t cut out to be a mother as liking babies was never my forte. I was the first one to shush a crying child on a transatlantic flight or change seats if there was a baby around. I envisioned myself living by the seaside with my husband and two big dogs. Today, I am a mother of two amazing kids and a proud owner of a small business making teething accessories for babies!
My daughter loves gummy bears. The idea to start Gummy Wear stemmed from this soft yet firm gelatin-based fruit candy. I wanted something baby-safe and chewy for my teething son who was always grabbing anything he could lay his hands on. I also missed wearing necklaces after I had my babies. So, I started making teething accessories from unfinished wood and BPA-free, food-grade silicone for other mothers in a similar situation.
I loved the thrill of starting my own company – no deadlines, no boring weekly meetings and nobody to limit my creative ideas. However, the reality is far from fascinating: revolving my life around two children aged 1 and 4 makes me wish that the day has more than 24 hours – there is always something I still need to get done. With a new business added to that mix, my brain never wants to switch off.
Nonetheless, it truly is the most empowering thing I have done in a long time. My face lights up with pure joy every time I get an order and my heart swells with pride when I dispatch my handmade products. Thank you for supporting my small business and happy shopping!
